Kite Buen Hombre is more than just a kite school located at a remote flat water Caribbean paradise. The spot is ideal for people who want to stay with us to learn or improve. We are very well established at teaching complete beginners all the way through to technical tricks for the advanced.

The spot has flat and shallow water with only few kiters so it is perfect for learning or practicing the sport. Buen Hombre has fantastic conditions thanks to its unique microclimate. We receive on average 7-9 knots more wind than Cabarete, and in June-September the wind averages between 20-30 knots or more. The wind usually starts blowing from noon and on average we are given between 6-8 kiteable hours per day! We are lucky to also experience a much shorter rain season and even in the ‘rainy’ off-peak season of October and November, we still receive at least 4 days of wind per week. December through to April also provides excellent conditions with wind averaging between 18-25 knots.

The Destination

Buen Hombre is rustic, beautiful and off the grid. It is a small fishing village located 17km from the windiest beach in the Dominican Republic. The spot has ideal conditions for learning kitesurfing thanks to the consistent wind and shallow flat water. The spot is unspoilt by tourism and has not been commercialised. The seafood is fresh from the sea and our cooks prepare the best local food for your breakfast and dinner. Buen Hombre does not have wild parties like Cabarete, but there is always plenty of rum and ice cold beer and hammocks for you to relax and enjoy. If you want to learn to kitesurf fast in ideal secure conditions, then our experienced instructors will make sure that this is the place for you. You’ll go away with new skills having made long lasting friendships to enjoy even after you leave.

The Experience

We have 6 cool beach bungalows right on the kite beach. Our spot is one of the few non-commercial places left where you see local life and hardly any tourists. Buen Hombre is a sleepy fishing village where time has stopped and you can enjoy the Caribbean slow pace of life.

The Kite Buen Hombre camp is an ideal option for people who want to learn and improve in a paradise setting away from the tourist traps. We offer a total kitesurfing package and take care of all the transfers and activities. Your fresh breakfasts and dinners will be provided by our amazing cook and all you need to think about is enjoying your time on the water and relaxing in between.

We even have 3-5 amazing downwinder excursions that you can take part in departing from Buen Hombre itself. One trip will take you to a small sandy ‘Paradise Island’ only accessible by boat where you will get the chance to snorkel the reefs and chill out before downwinding back. We also offer other excursions to ‘7 islands’ and more.

WE have amazing kite downwinders to 7 islands, Playa Popa and Paradise island. Also boat trips to wakeboard and fish.

Accommodation

Our bungalows are simple wooden structures next to the water with palm leaf roofs and views to the sea. We have a beach surf camp atmosphere and eat breakfast and dinner together which includes plenty of freshly caught seafood and local vegetables. Hammocks are dotted all over the camp for you to lounge in and you’ll drift off to sleep hearing the water lap next to you. We have WIFI and charging stations. Some bungalows have electricity and some have solar lights.
