Summary
It's hard to find Ceara´s kitesurf conditions in other parts of the world. During the season, from June to February, the constant side on shore wind blows almost every day. You can kite from around 10/11 am in the morning until 5/6 pm at night. With a wind speed between 20 and 35 kt, we recommend women to bring kites between 6 and 9 meters, men between 8 and 10 meters. The water temperature doesn't vary much - with 28 degrees you can leave the wetsuit at home. ;-) The water is mostly shallow or choppy; depending on spot and downwind trip you get to enjoy some waves as well.
The Destination
The Experience
Do you want to disconnect and spend some days at a place that is a true kite surf paradise? Do you want to be amazed by Brazil's Northeast coast while learning new kite surf skills and techniques that allow you to enjoy yourself on the water even more? Then read on.
Windspirit Kite Experience is a kite surf school located in Preá, just next to famous Jericoacoara and about 4 hours from Ceará's capital Fortaleza. The school provides kite surf lessons, downwinds, kite trips, equipment rental, storage and any kind of service related to this amazing sport.
Joining one of our kite camps gives your the opportunity to improve your kite surf skills and learn new techniques to master any downwind trip with ease and peace of mind. You'll have practical as well as theoretical lessons, led by the owner of the school and his experienced team. During this 5-day-experience you will certainly notice you own progress, being able to go on a downwind of more than 30 km along the coast.
As our local Kite Camp base we chose the beautiful Villa Pinolo in Preá: http://villa-pinolo.ceara-hotels.com/pt/ This bright and tastefully decorated Pousada is located right in front of the beach and the kite spot. When you are not out in the ocean with your kite, you can relax by the pool and enjoy the tranquility of the place (or some caipirinha ;) ).
While Preá is the perfect place to relax and forget about the outside world, Jericoacoara, which is only 20 minutes away, offers a buzzing nightlife with amazing bars and restaurants. And of course, the stunning Jericoacoara Nationalpark with its wide sand dunes and beautiful sunsets.
