Enjoy a 7 night stay in one of our top floor studios located in the Orient Beach Resort just two minutes walk from a kite boarding paradise. Ride with the sea turtles and rays in the crystal clear waters while surfing the waves, shredding the lagoon or learning to foil in the deep ocean waters.

The kite spot is for advanced riders, as it is necessary to ride upwind 80m in order to reach the kiting area. Riders are required to stay outside the swimming area which is indicated with yellow markers. The bay is 1.5 miles wide offering flat water, chop and swell. The flat water and waves can be found close to Green Cay Island. During high season, this area can get crowded with jet skis, boats and parasails. The launching area is located between Kakao and Bikini Beach. The waters are crystal clear with sea turtles and rays playing close to Marine Park. The wind is consistent year round with an average of 13-18 knots. A quiver of 10m and 14m would be perfect for the conditions. The water is warm with no wetsuit needed, though a rash guard for sun protection is necessary. The conditions are perfect for all riding type. Enjoy flat water in the lagoon, wave riding at the reef, long swell in the bay and deep water for foiling.

The Destination

St Martin is known for its dry climate and sunny weather. Because of the weather, the wind conditions are consistent year round. With crystal clear and warm waters, the ocean is an amazing playground for everyone! The island is half Dutch and half French offering a wonderful multi-cultural atmosphere. Enjoy the French cuisine and duty free shops on the French side and bustling nightlife and casinos on the Dutch side. Unlike most kiteboarding destinations, the wind is consistent around 13-18 knots the whole year. Morning is always the best time to ride until about 11am, and picks up again around 3pm each day. The spot offers conditions for all riding types: flat water in the lagoon, wave riding on the reef, long swell outside the bay and deep water for foil boarding.

The Experience

St Martin is a small island making it easy to organise last minute activities. Take an evening off kiteboarding and enjoy the other activities the island has to offer.

Explore the water and wildlife in other ways including hobie cat rentals, sea kayaking, snorkelling around Orient Bay, surfing, SUP or take a boat excursion to Anguilla, St Barthelemy.

Visit the landscapes, historic sites and traditional buildings on a hiking tour, bike ride, quad bike tour or on horseback. Explore the mountain trails and visit the butterfly farm or the Loterie Farm.

Markets and duty free shopping are a popular attractions in Marigot and Philipsburg.

Kite trip to Anguilla

We offer weekly day trips to Anguilla, joining one of these trips is a must!

We will depart from the Vela centre at 8:30am by motorboat, arriving at Cove Bay, Anguilla at 9:30am. Here we have the morning hours to kite. In the afternoon we will have lunch and then enjoy an amazing downwinder to Prickly Pear or go visit Sandy Island. We will return to Orient Bay by 4pm.

This trip if perfect for intermediate riders (must ride upwind), non-riders and kids welcome.

We also offer this trip to another location on Anguilla, Savannah Bay with the options of going to Scrub Island. Savannah Bay is a beautiful wave spot, Scrub Island is also a wave spot with slightly lighter wind.

This trip is for advanced riders only.

Getting there

Airport Arrival:

You'll fly into St Martin's Juliana International Airport (SXM). When you arrive at the airport you will go through immigration and pick up any checked luggage in baggage claim. 

Taxis / Transfers:

We suggest that you use taxi service to reach your hotel. Taxi drivers are very familiar with the location of all properties. It takes about 35 minutes and costs about $40 per taxi to the hotels along Orient Bay.

Our studios are located on the windward coast of Saint-Martin, just two minutes walk from the beach. The rooms are on the top floor of the Orient Beach Resort surrounded by tropical plants and colourful vegetation.
