Wind statistics: Marmari Surf School /June - October/ Wind: meltemi and thermal Direction: N, NE, NW, side shore, from the right, S and SE, side shore, from the left Wind starts at: When the forecast is lighter (10 to 15 knots), the wind starts around 10am, the peak is about mid-day (and the actual wind is about 20 knots) and it lasts until the sunset. The days that the forecast is 20 knots and above, usually the wind blows all day, drops in the evening for 2-3 hours and starts again (the actual wind is 7-8 knots more than the forecast). There are three factors that generate the famous wind in Marmari: The shape of the mountains, the local thermal wind and the venduri effect between the island of Evia and the complex of the Petali Islands. There are two more spots in Petali Islands, where we go for daily trips and downwinders. Wind stats: June: 50%, July: 90%, August: 90% /the location is one of the most guaranteed wind locations. The ancient Greeks called it "The Wind Gates". There are three power boats available for rescues, boat lessons, downwinders, and daily boat trips.
