The wind blows constantly between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean through the whole year. The Levante wind coming from the east and the Poniente wind coming from the west channel their power between Africa and Europe giving birth to an incomparable show. The Air Mass passing through the two continents creates a venturi effect that accelerates the wind speed up to 50 knots or more. That’s why Tarifa is one of the most impressive kitesurfing and surfing spots in Europe. Here you can find the best conditions in Europe for practicing or learning to kitesurf, there are wave spots, flat water and chop. The temperatures vary throughout the year with hot weather over the summer and cooler weather in the spring-winter months. A shorty wetsuit is suitable in the summer and a full wetsuit is recommended the rest of the year.

The Destination

There is no better place for kitesurfing and windsurfing than Tarifa. The beaches are huge, the wind blows over 300 days per year and the nightlife is awesome! Tarifa is a small town in the province of Cadiz, Andalucia, on the southern coast of Spain. The town is located in the Costa de la Luz and across the Straits of Gibraltar facing the Moroccan coast which is visible to the naked eye as the two continents are separated only by 15km of sea. Los Lances is one of the main kitesurfing beaches, a seemingly never ending 8km long beach free of dangers and obstacles. The green hills and the mountains on the north of the city are the gates to the natural park of Los Arcornocales, with endless nature walks and biking trails. Take some time to explore the stunning nature and ancient towns around the south of Spain including Duna de Valdevaqueros, an incredible sand dune located at the end of Los Lances beach created by year and years of strong winds.

The south of Spain has lots more to offer than just great wind. Since the wind doesn't usually kick in until the afternoon, there is plenty of time to explore. The stunning mountainous backdrop of Los Lances is filled with beautiful nature walks, mountain bike trails and amazing views. Accommodations are in a Surf House located just 5 minutes walking from Los Lances beach. The house is composed by 6 nice rooms fitting up to 20 people, a shared kitchen, 2 chill out areas, a big living room, a bar with a pool table, an outdoor garden with a terrace and swimming pool, and an area to clean your equipment after kiting.
