Summary
Kenyaways is located on beautiful Galu Beach in Diani, Kenya where you'll kitesurf over turquoise water and along a sandy shoreline. There are two main windy seasons throughout the year called Kaskazi and Kuzi. Kaskazi blows N/NE from mid-Dec until mid-March and the wind tends to be around 14-18 knots. Kuzi blows S/SE from June to Sept with an average of 15-25 knots. If the wind is up, it typically blows side to side-onshore. Kenyaways has storage for kiters coming with their own equipment who can kite independently. We do not provide rescue. we recommend men to bring 9 to 12 meter kites and for women to bring 7 to 12 meter kites. Since Kenyaways located in a tropical climate, you can expect 25-35°C air temperature and the water temperature is a warm 28°C on average. You won't need a full wetsuit, but you will need sun protection. There is a kite school conveniently located next door. The spot itself is dependent on tidal conditions. During low tide, you're likely to kitesurf in calm, flat, shallow water with small waves breaking on the outer reef. This is perfect for kitesurfers who love waves or want to perfect their freestyle manoeuvres. During high tide, the water tends to be choppier with small waves breaking inside the reef -- great for kiteboarders who enjoy using the shorebreak as a kicker. Best of all, there are conditions to suit every style of riding and every ability. Beginners will feel comfortable kitesurfing at all tides.
