Flag Beach is located in the far north of Fuerteventura. This beach marks the beginning of nearly 7 kilometers of pristine white sand, about half of which is marked off for kitesurfing. The wind blows 15-20 knots cross-shore during the high season, which makes for favourable learning conditions. The kiteboarding season runs from March until November (though it's still possible to kite during the winter months, the conditions can get pretty wild with strong unreliable wind and big waves). During the peak season, the most common kite sizes are 9 and 12 meters (for average weight riders). During the summer months, you most likely won't need a wetsuit (though some do still choose to wear a shorty). However, the autumn and early spring months can be somewhat cooler, so expect to wear a full wetsuit (2/3/4mm).
Described by customers as "more of a boutique hotel" than your typical hostel, this little Surfer's retreat is the ideal base from which to discover Fuerteventura. Located in a beautiful, cultural, and fun-loving island setting and with a world class kitesurfing beach within arm's reach, this experience will hit the spot for traveler's who value a mix of sun, surf, and socialising.
The surf hostel is located just 2.5 kilometers away from the legendary kite spot, Flag Beach. Renowned for its white sand and spacious beach area, Flag Beach is a great spot for beginners to make their first steps in the world of kiteboarding. It's also a favourite spot for intermediate and advanced riders thanks to the reliable wind and varied water conditions- there's even some nice waves for the surfer's among you. There are plenty of club facilities here, so you'll have access to all you need in terms of gear, storage, and lessons.
Enjoying the Outdoors
If there's one thing the crew at the surf hostel know about their guests, it's that they're there to make the most of the great outdoors. Indeed, Fuerteventura is full of outdoor adventure- hiking, surfing, kiting- but sometimes "holiday-mode" means doing little more than vegging out in the sun. With a private swimming pool, sun terrace, and open air barbecue area, this hostel caters for serious chill sessions.
The nearest airport, Aeropuerto de Fuerteventura, is located 31 kilometers away from the surf hostel. This is the most convenient way to get here. The next nearest airport is Lanzarote-Arrecife Airport, located ever so slightly further away (35 kilometers).
