The Breva thermal wind blows from about 12 pm midday to sunset. The wind can even be quite strong at the narrower sections of the river like where we are based in Dervio. The kite sizes most commonly used are between 9 to 15 meters. The wind season starts in April where the air temperature is a mild 20 degrees. May, June and September are warm, but in July and August, you’ll experience 25 degrees and no need for a wetsuit!

The Destination

Lake Como is full of beautiful nature and Dervio is still a very traditional lakeside spot. The weather is always nice and warm and the water maintains a temperature of around 20 degrees. Typical restaurants are dotted around the area, and after a day of kiting, you can enjoy genuine Italian food and amazing wine! For those wanting a more active stay, then the area offers many other activities such as hiking, wakeboarding, windsurfing, stand up paddling and cycling, as well as relaxing at the local mild springs!

The Experience

Learning to kitesurf will be one of the best things you do in your life and we have a beautiful location to learn in. We fell in love with the area and sport and have found that it has had a positive impact on our mind, body and soul.

Beginner Kitesurf Course

The beginner course includes 5 hours of instruction over three days and covers: theoretical knowledge, equipment (including wetsuit), safety training and information, as well as Risk and Liability insurance.

You will begin your course with 2 hours of theory where at the end you will have the opportunity to take a test to obtain your international VDWS licence. We will then teach you how to set-up and use a regular leading edge inflatable kite.

Once confident flying the kite we will progress to body dragging which is learning how to pilot the kite so that you can move your body through the water. From the boat, we will then show you how to use the board to practise water starts.

Once in the water, you will be followed by the boat and receive instruction via two-way radio so that you will learn as fast as possible. Your water lessons will total 3 hours and will be a private 1:1 tuition with an experienced instructor. If you want to take your skills further we also offer advanced 1:1 lessons to continue your progression.

Advanced Kitesurf Lessons

Individual lessons (1:1 with instructor) are available once the beginner lesson course has been completed. For maximum results we use two-way radio assistance to be able to communicate with you easily while you are in the water.

Each private lesson lasts for an hour and the boat will follow you allowing maximum progression time practising your technique. We find our advanced lessons are the most intensive and rewarding way of learning.
