Egypt is one of the top kite and windsurf destinations year-round, due to the reliable wind especially in the summer as well as extended flat and shallow lagoons. During winter, you usually have better conditions in the south (>70% windy days), whilst April - October, the area around Hurghada and the Sinai offer the better wind statistics (60%-80% windy days, June until September even >80%).
I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in Wadi Lahami with Thilo and his lovely team. Thilo was very supportive regarding any questions prior to the trip - and I had many as it was my first kitevacation... The spot is great, beginners as well as more experienced riders will find fantastic conditions, have heaps of fun and improve their riding. Plus there is plenty to do if the wind should take a short break. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who isn't looking for a party crowd but for some great quality time with great people - guests and team alike.
I was one of the lucky girls who joined the first Kite Tribe camp for girls! Mia and Sophie were very friendly hosts and patient instructors. We were lucky to have 1 instructor for 2 students that week. They made sure we felt comfortable at every level of kiting before progressing to the next, i have never felt unsafe and was surprised by how fast everybody was making progress! We had two 'no wind' days, but we went kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, SUPing! Lots of things to do in beautiful 'El Gouna' It was so nice to experience this week with a group of like minded girls and as a single traveller i have always felt very at ease and it was so nice to meet many of Mia's and Sophie's friends! I'm looking forward to join another camp, because from what i heard the conditions for learning (shallow and warm water, beautiful lagoon) are the best in El Gouna. The only hiccup was a stubborn Go pro that would not always function, but I'm sure that's already been taken care off :-) Overal, awesome experience!!!
We had a brilliant week with Roberto and his team. They did a really good job and we had superb food and great support. The program was amended according to the wind forecast and therefore we went diving on the two days where there was less wind. Overall, I can really recommend Roberto's kitetrips. You get a fantastic kiteweek for a really good price!
