Alvor Lagoon: The strong, summer Nortada wind and Alvor Lagoon's waist-deep water offer the ideal conditions to learn and practice kitesurfing in the Algarve. In the past, the PKRA Kiteboarding World Tour was held here in Alvor and it was recently praised again by world sailor, Alex Thomson Meia Praia: Perfect for trial lessons, the Meia Praia is a long, spacious beach that offers great conditions to fly power kites on land and to try out your first body drags in shallow water. However, the offshore wind makes this spot only suitable for beginners or very advanced kiters; intermediates should stay inside the safe lagoon. Wave spots: When the southwest or southeast winds blow, Meia Praia receives a great hit of swell and waves. For experienced kiters, there are also some bigger swells to be found on the west coast- as well as a handful of amazing wave spots like Bordeira, Carrapateira, and Milfontes. All of these have several kilometers of open sandy beaches and constant waves. Due to the thermic conditions, these spots are best experienced during the spring and autumn.

The Destination

Close enough to the buzzing tourist hotspot Lagos, but far enough to enjoy the relaxed vibe of nature, the camp sits right in the middle of several excellent kite, surf and SUP spots- but this is just the beginning of why we love Burgau. Don't get us started on the food! Screamingly fresh fish straight off the boat, Portuguese delicacies, international favourites – you name it. Oh, and did we mention the laid-back little beach and the super scenic walks along the cliffs…? The Southwest Algarve is a very special place, especially for watersports and tours. Located on a tip of land between the South-facing and West-facing coasts of Sagres and Lagos, there’s always an array of wind and swell directions just around the corner. No matter what activity you want to do- kite lessons, surfing or SUP in Lagos – the perfect conditions are usually just a short drive away. The rough scenery and unspoiled nature around Lagos and the Costa Vicentina natural park are breathtaking. Our region has one of the biggest and best-preserved coastlines in Europe. Some of the most beautiful places are only accessible by water – which makes it extremely exciting to explore this region on top of a SUP board or under a kite. Sandy beaches, crystalline lagoons, flat waters and fun waves – Southwest Algarve has it all.

The Experience

Our experienced staff and the windy lagoon in Lagos are the perfect combination to ensure you boost up your kiteboarding skills in no time. If you're a beginner, we'll help you realize your dream of getting on the board and making your first meters downwind. If you're experienced already, our instructors will make sure you master that extra edge and get the adrenaline pumping through your veins. When you're tired out after a full day of kiting, you can stay at our brand new Ocean Spirits Lodge where you'll have the chance to socialize, eat Portuguese food, and share your experiences with like-minded kiters.

Kitesurfing School

Kite lessons are available for all levels and ages (from 14 to 75); professionalism, security, and fun are guaranteed. All of our instructors are experienced and have international VDWS and IKO certificates. We use brand new equipment from the market leader, North Kiteboarding.

  • SUP Tours instead of kite lessons on windless days (pre-bookings)
