Mui Ne has been known as one of Asia's top kiting destinations for many years, and with good reason! With an average of 227 windy days a year, why would you spend your precious kite holiday anywhere else?! Source is located on Ganh Beach, and we also teach on the main Ham Tien kite beach. Ganh Beach provides our riders and students with a wide, and gently sloping sandy beach, free of obstacles, and perfect for getting started, improving your skills in the waves, or honing your latest trick. Morning time means lighter winds and small waves, with flat water in between, while afternoon and evening ensure that more advanced riders can enjoy the kickers, and strapless riders the larger waves out back. The main Ham Tien beach provides flatter conditions, with chop and small waves, and is also perfect for beginners or for those just becoming independent. On a typical high season day, wind speeds averge 18-25kts, and usual kite sizes range from 7m - 10m for average sized riders. Water temperature is warm all year round, meaning no need for neoprene here :) a light spring suit, or just a long sleeved rash vest will do just fine. The sun is strong, however, and we recommend investing in some good quality, high factor spf, a hat and sunglasses for the water.

The Destination

Mui Ne is located close to Phan Thiet city, in Binh Thuan Province. Drive time from Ho Chi Minh City is 4.5 hours. It is a small fishing town turned watersport paradise, with endless stretches of white sandy coastline enjoyed by kitesurfers, windsurfers, surfers and beach goers alike. The kite conditions are second to none in this part of Vietnam, and we enjoy an average of 227 windy days per year...what more can we ask for?? Winds are strong in the season from October-March, and kite sizes flown are usually from 7m to 10m. Mui Ne is a typical small Vietnamese town, with several fresh markets, a multitude of street food stalls and cheap local restaurants, and plenty of tourist shops providing all the facilities and services you could need to enjoy your stay. Nightlife is busy during the high season (Oct-Mar) with almost nightly parties and events in the small strip of bars and clubs. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, with most of the clientele being surfers, kiters and water lovers. There's plenty to do for non-kiters too...with shopping, spas, eating out and excursions available at low cost. Source Kiteboarding has a shop at 139d Nguyen Dinh Chieu, on the main street.

The Team

The team at Source Kiteboarding are an international mix, with instructors and staff from France, Russia, Ukraine, Belgium, Ireland and Vietnam. They are crazy passionate about all things watersports, and have experience kiting and teaching in many of the worlds top kite destinations. They will all tell you though, that Mui Ne is one of their favourite kite spots in the world, not only for the kiting but also for the community of like-minded kiters, surfers and windsurfers. They can be found on the beach by day, and out together shooting the breeze with fellow waterbabies by night. Welcome to our crew!

Lessons, Coaching & Riding

Our top team of international IKO instructors will take you where you want to go on your kitesurfing journey. They have many years of experience teaching and kiting, and are super well equipped to answer your questions, ease your worries and ensure that you have the ride of your life here at Source Kiteboarding.

Our school is kitted out with the latest NorthKB range of kites and boards, meaning that our students and riders are supplied with the best equipment on the market. We really believe in giving our students the best opportunities to progress, and this comes from using the best gear possible and choosing the best instructors possible, We've taken the hassle out of the search, and provide you with both! Our lessons are typically conducted on a private basis, with 1 on 1 tuition for all students, regardless of level. For complete beginners, we also offer a taster lesson which can be done with 2 students : 1 instructor. After the first taster lesson, students will be separated to ensure maximum progression and a lesson tailored for each student. Languages for lessons include English, French, Vietnamese, Ukrainian and Russian.

Getting Here

Mui Ne is approximately 4.5 hours drive from Ho Chi Minh City. The nearest airport is there, Tan Son Nhat Airport, and from the airport there are a few different ways to reach Mui Ne. Private transfers with pick up at the airport, or a hotel of your choice, are available and can be arranged at short notice. Please contact us for details and pricing. Alternatively, guests can reach Mui Ne by bus or train. Many bus companies operate routes that service Mui Ne from all over Vietnam, and the buses are usually comfortable sleeper buses. Trains are in operation from HCMC, and also from the north, arriving in Phan Thiet - approx 15km from Mui Ne. Contact us for further information on any transfer service

Accommodation

Relax in the laidback style of a tropical pousada in Vietnam! The accommodation we provide is set in a beautiful garden filled with native plants, coconut palms and fruit trees. The cosy accommodations are made from mostly natural materials like bamboo and feature 2 levels of spacious accommodation. These tropical duplex units are cosy and comfortable and will become your home from home during your time at Source. All accommodation is ensuite, with free wifi. Julien is your host for this experience and will provide you with all the information needed.

Julien is originally from Normandy in France, but moved to Ireland in 2001 after his studies, where he learnt and started teaching kiteboarding in 2003. Julien is a certified IKO instructor Level 2 and has been travelling around the best spots in the world since then . He has been working in the hospitality and accommodation business for many years, and used that experience to successfully renovate and develop a popular kite camp in Dakhla (Morocco) and another one in Ireland. Julien has been involved in the organisation of multiple kitesurfing events and competitions, and is the driving force behind all the team at Source.
