Directly at the camp is a gigantic lagoon that will make your kitesurfing heart beat faster. The flat water is perfect for all beginners to take the first meters and get the ultimate kitesurf feeling. The spot is influenced by the tides, but with low tide there is still enough water in the lagoon with enough space for every level. Depending on the tide you have a 150 to 300 meter wide, shallow water, directly in front of the camp. This is where you will spend 92.2% of your vacation. The ground is sandy with no sharp rocks or corals, the wind always blows constantly and side-shore from the left direction. This place offers maximum safety for beginners and ideal conditions for freestylers & advanced. Even during the main season, you will always find enough space on the water here. In addition to the lagoon at the camp there is also a wave spot and a speed spot. The speed spot is a land-based flat water spot with the flattest water you can imagine. We will do a few trips here during the week and if the wind blows we will try to organize some downwinders.

The Destination

You will be staying in the middle of the desert in a great kitecamp. In the area you will find a (little) wakeboard park, some very nice wave surfing spots (for surfing and kiting) and of course, you can make amazing trips on a camel through the desert. In addition, there is the possibility to get a traditional hammam and visit an oyster farm. Furthermore, there is little distraction so that you can fully focus on kite surfing and progressing as much as possible during your vacation. March and April are the windiest months in Dakhla. You are guaranteed to get enough kitesurfing hours and muscle aches! The wind blows side-shore and is usually between 14 and sometimes as much as 30 knots. The water is fairly fresh so make sure to bring a shorty or 3/2 wetsuit for safety. The outside temperature is nice and warm during the day, but don't forget that you are in the desert and that it cools down considerably at night. So don't forget to throw some warm sweaters in your boardbag!

The Experience

Once you arrive at the airport of Dakhla, there will be a taxi driver waiting for you. After a little 20min drive to our camp you'll meet our staff that will guide you to your room where you can get comfortable and prepare yourself for an amazing week packed with kitesurfing/ progressing/ meeting new friends and having fun. Dakhla is a pearl in the middle of the Sahara that offers more than 300 days a year wind. Have you ever wanted to learn that new trick or adding a bit more style to your riding, than this is your place to be! With professional kitesurfer, Roderick Pijls, who will be there to help you learn new tricks and helping you to achieve that next level. In between the sessions, the coaches will film and take photos from you. Whenever there's the possibility we will organize a video-analyze to make sure we all stick that new trick.

Next to the amazing wind activities, there's also the possibility to visit the town of Dakhla and get a traditional hammam. Visit the oyster farm in town or kite at one of the amazing wave spots. If there's no wind, then the team is always there to organize a no-wind activity (which is without obligations to attend); surfing/ camel adventure/ etc..

In our Dakhla camp we will offer you a full-board package (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

The camp will be guided by two professional instructors and they will make sure that you'll be set for the entire week.

Our Dakhla camp will be situated 100m from the main spot. All our bungalows are designed to provide you optimal comfort during your stay. providing a casual-chic kiting accommodation with a dash of authenticity in such a way to experience the local culture. You'll be sleeping a few steps from the lagoon and surrounded by sand dunes. Felix is your host for this experience and will provide you with all the information needed.

In 2005 my kite adventure started at Workum, after a kite lesson with friends I was addicted. As soon as I saw the leaves on the trees move everything went aside and I had to go straight to the water. I learned my first tricks at my home spot De Lemmer. After training a winter in Brazil with friends in 2009, I visited several European kite tours with good results and the national events here in the Netherlands were also always fun! Traveling, kiting and teaching are my three passiones in life and I am happy that I can turn my passion into my work. I have been teaching kite lessons since 2012 at various locations around the world! Now that I have finished my High Hotel School training, I am ready to make your KiteActive holiday a legendary success!
