The kite club is located right in Corralejo in the northeast of the island. This central location means that anyone taking part in the experience will have easy access to all of the surrounding kite spots (in the kite club's private van)- of which there are many. You and your instructor will be able to pick which location to kite at depending on the day's wind direction, weather conditions, and your own individual preferences. The main spots that you'll be kiting at will be Flag Beach or Cotillo. Flag Beach is commonly referred to as Fuerteventura's premiere kitesurfing spot. There you'll find close to 7 kilometers of beautiful sandy beach- about half of which is marked off for kitesurfing. During the high season (March-November) Flag Beach receives 15-20 knots of cross-shore wind, with gentle/moderate chop out on the water. These are perfect learning conditions for beginner kiteboarders, so when possible, most of the lessons will take place here. Alternatively, lessons will take place at Cotillo when the wind blows from the northeast. With similar conditions to Flag Beach, the launch area is here is also wide, spacious, and sandy. During the peak season, the most common kite sizes are 9 and 12 meters (for average weight riders). During the summer months, you most likely won't need a wetsuit (though some do still choose to wear a shorty). However, the autumn and early spring months can be somewhat cooler, so expect to wear a full wetsuit (2/3/4mm).
Known for its beautiful beaches, social setting, and relaxed island vibes, the Canary Islands are a popular holiday destination for all kinds of travelers. But Fuerteventura, in particular, draws a different kind of traveler; wind and water lovers flock to this little island to make the most of the amazing kitesurfing, surfing, and windsurfing conditions. The town of Corralejo, where the experience takes place, is a charming blend of old and new. The well-preserved Old Town is a reminder of traditional Canarian culture, while the modern additions- bars, shops, and quaint local restaurants- provide all of the creature comforts you'll need during your stay in the sun.
Designed to help people make their first steps into the world of kitesurfing, this experience has been carefully tailored to get you up and riding in the most efficient, safe, and fun way possible. The team at Point Break Watersports Center are well versed when it comes to teaching and training novice kiters; not only that, they're also extremely motivated to make sure all of their guests have tons of fun throughout their entire stay in Fuerteventura.
Depending on factors like wind direction, tide, and swell, your IKO certified instructor may take you for lessons that start from the beach or their private teaching boat. This ensures that during your lesson, you'll have the right conditions, safety precautions, and space needed to guarantee a successful learning experience. Thanks to the school having their own dedicated kite van, you'll also be able to move with the wind and make the most of whatever conditions Fuerteventura throws at you. Lessons happen in groups of up to 3 students per instructor. Gear, insurance, and transport to/from the spot is provided.
