Big Bay is situated about 20 min drive outside the busy and bustling Cape Town City Center. This means a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere, away from the traffic and noise. The Spot: Famous venue for the annual Red Bull King of the Air. Right in front of our kite camp, is Small Bay, a little bay which is perfect for swimming or kayaking, as little swell enters. To the right, we have a sandbar called Kamers, which is a lefthander, strictly for wave riders. This wave runs down a long stretch of beach. Inside the bay we have a A-frame wave that breaks on the outside, then reform before hitting the shore break. It is a sandy bottom. and the wave usually breaks slow. During the summer months, lifeguards are active which creates reassuring thoughts. Also during the summer, the south easterly wind blows as often as daily, turning Big Bay into a world class playground, as surfing/SUP takes place in the morning, and in the afternoon, hundreds of kite and windsurfers makes their way to the water. Cape Town offers everyone the opportunity for everyone to enjoy her winds. Around mid day, the South Easter slowly starts to pick up, and gradually continues to, throughout the day. This means bigger kites in the morning, and smaller sizes as the day goes by. Remember wetsuits, as the same wind cools down the water to around 10 - 13 degrees in summer. Twintips, directionals and hydrofoils are all recommended! The more toys, the more water time!

The last 4 years I have been concentrating on strapless wave kiting. The ability to be able to catch 100 times more waves than traditional surfing, and the fact that Cape Town is a world class kite / windsurf destination, makes it compulsory extreme sport for anyone staying close to the coast. As from 2016, I am a national team rider for Roberto Ricci Designs.
What better way to utilize experience, than to carry it over. Spearfishing, scuba, surfing and kite surfing taught us valuable lessons. This is what we want to extend to you. We want to learn from others, and share my passion for the ocean. We want to share our waves. Are you on?
