Walking distance to spot

The air temperature is, depending on the season, between 20 and 28 degrees, the water temperature of the Mexican Caribbean between 23 and 28 degrees. The kite season goes from November till June (best months: February until May). The wind is smooth and constant with 12 – 25 knots. Most of the time, the wind comes from north east, east or south east, onshore, side-onshore or side-shore. The waves can get 5m high but break at the reef in about 800m distance from the beach. Tulum is a great spot, both to learn kiteboarding as well as to jump into the waves and work on your tricks. We recommend kite sizes from 8 to 14.

The Destination

Small eco-boutique hotels meet commonly simple cabañas on the beach but face the restaurants from NYC. Tulum has grown its own identity. Apart from being home to ancient Mayan ruins and underwater caves, the cenotes, to dive and snorkel in, it is known by the international community as one of the best beach destinations in the world. Tulum has positioned itself as a leader in sustainable and ecological tourism.

The Experience

Tulum offers the right wind conditions for different styles of kiteboarding: freestyle, free riding, wave style, race and long distance. The wind at the spectacular coast line in Quintana Roo blows very smooth and constant. The azure water at the long and beautiful white sand beaches of the Mexican Caribbean is warm and crystal clear. All you need is your boardshort or bikini. Our package includes a 6-day (7 nights) kite vacation in Tulum and optional a 3-day-kitetrip to El Cuyo, a little fisher village at the golf coast of Yucatan.

The package consists of a lot of freestyle action and kiteboarding with a local Pro Rider. The program will be adapted depending on the weather and wind situation. Tulum offers great kiteboarding conditions - but offers a lot in case of no-wind days, too. On top to the week in Tulum, we may add a 3 day trip to El Cuyo - the favorite spot of the local riders.

The organizer reserves the right to change the program, e.g. due to wind conditions.

Optional Trip to El Cuyo

El Cuyo is a small undiscovered little fishing village on the eastern golf coast of the Yucatan peninsula. A paradise for kite boarders, which is known for its long and lonely beaches. The spot is famous among the local riders because of the consistent wind conditions, the strong “Norte” in winter and the thermal wind in the afternoon from March on. It’s a spot where you can enjoy nature, flamingos, sea turtles, the pink water lagoon and peaceful sunsets. El Cuyo is a 2.5 hrs drive from Tulum and we do a 3-day-trip there with kiteboarding, fishing and barbecue. Fresh fish is guaranteed. We'll stay in double rooms in a beach house directly at the beach of El Cuyo.

included:

  • transfer Tulum - El Cuyo - Tulum
  • 3 days of kiteboarding with supervision
  • 2 nights in a beach house
  • 2hrs of private lessons per day
  • downwinders assisted by boat
  • barbecue night with fresh fish

optional (at extra costs):

  • tour to the pink waters, cenotes and flamingos

Accommodation

There are several accommodation options in Pueblo Tulum, or directly at the beach (more expensive)

Townhouse in Pueblo Tulum, double occupation

Large and modern apartments in a townhouse in the center of Tulum. To the beach you need 10-15 min by car or 20-30 min by bicycle. The apartments are freshly renovated, with a small kitchen, Internet and enough energy and water. The house has a huge garden and is located in the center of Tulum closed to all bars, supermarkets and restaurants. The good thing is you can reach everything easily.

Cab ride to the spot around 5-7€ one-way.

Suite in Chiringuito Hotel Tulum

The home of our kite school and directly at the beach camouflaged by nature, Chiringuito Tulum is an exclusive and peaceful site on the Mexican coast. Its marked Mediterranean style is subtly combined with Caribbean construction elements. Polished cement, stone and rustic wood finishings are matched with clay vessels, natural textiles, and contemporary artworks. An oasis for lovers of exotic natural sites, delicate designs, the pleasure of privacy, and exquisite gastronomy. In the midst of an idyllic sea and the untamed wilderness, lies this Mediterranean-style hotel to indulge your senses in a perfectly rustic atmosphere.

Caribbean Jungle Cottages (across the kite spot)

When you arrive at the Jungle Cottages you are entering an own world - the Caribbean mangrove forest. Full of colorful birds, huge butterflies, iguanas, lizards and other animals this place feels authentic and away from all hectic and tourism. It’s the perfect spot for all nature lovers who want to relax, reconnect and participate in a more ecological life. The owner and architect is also a kite boarder and his passion for details led him to design 5 spacious, two-floor wooden-cottages with the maximum comfort integrated in harmony with the exuberant Mayan rainforest of Mexico. The fully equipped houses provide accommodation for 2-4 people with one en-suite bedroom with king size bed, balcony and bathroom, a dining room for 4 people with separate kitchen, living room with an extra bed and a private garden with hammock and chairs. Guests can refresh in the swimming pool and prepare a nice dinner in the cozy barbecue and dinning area.

The standard of the hotel is very European; it features a super comfy king-size bed and large closet. The bright and air-conditioned rooms will provide you with a safe and a flat-screen TV.
