The main spot is Salinas del Rey-Santa Veroinca located on Colombia North coast. The wind blows consistently from the NE 15-20 knots from December through May. The sea is crystal clear and warm all year round- no need to bring your wetsuit. The skies are clear and rain is minimal through the season, so lots of sunscreen or a rash guard for sun protection is recommended. Columbia is best for wave riding and the side on-shore winds are perfect for wave-winders. There is easy entry to the water as well as the option for big or small waves- great for all ability levels.

Santa Veronica is a small fishermans village located between Cartagena (1h) and Barranquilla (40 mins). There are a couple hostels and private house, though it is mostly wild, empty beaches. The atmosphere is quite relaxed and a great place to unwind and unplug. In high season you will find the majoirty of kiters from Canada and Europe (specifically French, Swiss, Dutch, Spanish and German). The locals are out in full force on the weekends. The locals are very friendly and welcoming providing a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Year after year, the kiting community is growing with new events and festivals taking place. In addition to kiting, Colombia is growing as one of the worlds most exciting adventure destinations. Immerse yourself in cultural activities such as Cartagena- a World Heritage Site rich in history and culture. This kite adventure is specifically recommended for wave lovers to improve their riding. It is also a great those who want to switch from a twintip to a surfboard. 2 hours of coaching per day is included with our local pro wave rider (also an IKO instructor). The side-on shore wind and clean waves are perfect for downwinders. Downwinders are great for progressing your riding skills as you don't need to worry about riding back upwind giving you more time to practice!
In January, we hold a Kitewave event, where armatures, locals and international riders are invited to compete in Big Air, a Twin Tip Race and surf board wave competition. Prizes have included a 2 day kite cruise for 8 people to the Rosario Islands, cash rewards, Mystic Ponchos and more.
This is a fun and exciting event to both watch and participate!

Juan Pablo is a super nice guy, helpful and friendly. He knows everybody and can always find a solution. The spot is nice, waves were mid-size, great to ride if you are beginner, intermediate or advanced. Watch out for hazards on the beaches (wood logs, plastic etc.) and in the water (wood logs, large heaps of seaweed). There was a special event Kitewave Experience Jan 13-14 with a competition (open to everyone), a concert on the beach, free beer organized by Juan Pablo, it was awesome !
